ArtSpace workshop + gallery in Eagle is celebrating a decade of creativity and collaboration by hosting a gallery night on May 9 from 5 to 8 p.m. Attendees can look forward to live music by Jen Mack, refreshments and a wide array of art for sale for the special mothers, mothers-to-be and mother figures in your life.

“With Mother’s Day and graduation events, May is a festive month so we wanted to give people an opportunity to find unique gifts while also celebrating our contributions to Eagle County,” said Tara Novak, ArtSpace owner and EagleArts president and program director.

While shopping, attendees can keep an eye out for collage art and folded book sculptures by Elke Wells (Liquid Sky Art), ceramics by Heath McDonald, photography by Mary Pat Brown, landscape paintings by Mason Torry, and abstract art by Novak. ArtSpace’s selection of jewelry includes creations by Gay Gardner, Cheryl Prins (Firecat Jewelry), and sisters Jodi Nagle and Annie Hutchinson (Bluebird Designs).

Throughout the last decade, ArtSpace has evolved from its humble beginnings (occasional Gallery Nights and the early stages of developing ArtWalk) to becoming the hub of the down valley art scene. “Once we started networking with the Chamber, the Town of Eagle, and surrounding businesses, we brought more attention to Broadway and became the catalyst for reinvigorating the Downton Business Alliance,” Novak explains. Since then, ArtWalk has transformed into an annual street festival and ArtSpace has grown into a place for the community to gather while hosting various painting classes and events, as well as providing a home for local artists to share their creations.

Going forward, Novak says ArtSpace is looking for 3D artists who specialize in sculpture and ceramics, or who work with wood and glass, as the gallery hopes to expand its current programs, classes, and workshops. Additionally, the May 9 Gallery Night marks the official launch of the Brick Fundraiser which gives supporters the opportunity to purchase bricks that will be engraved and integrated into the backyard patio. “Those who buy bricks are helping us elevate our backyard space so we can host more events this summer and fall,” Novak added. “They will forever be part of the legacy of all the work we’ve been doing the last decade.”
